Maintenance Worker Full-Time

Full-Time Non-Exempt Maintenance Worker

Position Classification, Hour Requirements & Hiring Salary:

  • 40 hours per week position
  • Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm Some Nights, Weekends & On-Call Shifts as Needed
  • $16.00-$18.00/hour depending on experience

Position Summary: Provide quality service to members and the community by maintaining a clean, safe and functional facility. Have a thorough understanding of YMCA program procedures and practices, while exemplifying the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Essential Duties

  • Assist with maintaining YMCA Buildings & Grounds.
  • Duties include but are not limited to, daily garbage pickup, mowing, weed eating, snow removal, salting, changing out filters, cleaning coils, painting, repairs to building and equipment.
  • Monitoring and assisting in maintaining water quality in pools when directed.
  • Assist with performing the comprehensive maintenance schedule as directed.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Notify supervisor of needed purchases and/or needed supplies.
  • Notify supervisor of any maintenance issues identified throughout any YMCA facility and/or grounds.
  • Know and follow all safety guidelines.
  • Communicate changes to facility usage schedules effectively with staff and members, in accordance with all communication procedures.
  • Set up and take down rooms for activities as directed.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training events as directed.
  • Maintain a professional image of the YMCA in the YMCA and in the community.

  • Members and community will be provided with quality service resulting in increased membership and program retention.
  • The YMCA will appear well organized and parents will have the latest information on events, programs and membership opportunities at the Two Rivers YMCA.
  • YMCA facilities and equipment will always be in good, working condition with an active preventive maintenance program in place.
  • All facilities, activities, and events will be supervised and staffed as needed to continue offering high quality services.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policy/procedure manuals, and operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with member/non-members, employees, vendors and contractors.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in abstract and standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPR/AED for infant, child and adult, Blood borne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention, Hazard Communication, if driving on behalf of the YMCA a valid Driver’s License and valid Car Insurance, and other trainings/certifications as assigned.

Other Skills and Abilities: Must have competence on a computer. Training in basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC and pool chemistry is helpful.
