School-Age Coordinator

Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of School-Age Care, the School-Age Coordinator will oversee and supervise the Before and After School Program and Summer Camp employees during program hours. They will help organize and oversee all employees and Summer Camp operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate School-Age staff and Summer Camp staff during program hours.

  • Communicate regularly with Youth Leaders and Assistants.

  • Ensure that all school sites meet the standards set forth in the School-Age Care training manual and by its directors.

  • Promote and incorporate the YMCA mission, four core values, and the 40 Developmental Assets in all extension programs and special events.

  • Continually implement all school sites and Summer Camp Program content, offering new and improved curriculum as recommended by the YUSA and supervisor.

  • Maintain a professional image of the YMCA in the facility and the community.

Effect and End Results:

  • The community will view the Two Rivers YMCA as an integral part of the community’s School-age Care resources available to youth and families.

  • The quality of programs will be improved through regular program evaluation.

  • All facilities, activities, and events will be supervised and staffed as needed to maintain a high quality of programming.

  • Participants will have a better understanding of the YMCA mission and values and how they can support it.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises approximately 30+ part-time or seasonal staff and volunteers, responsible for their overall direction, coordination, and evaluation.

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities including training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; assisting with appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience: Fifteen general college semester hours and at least one year experience and/or training in the childcare field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have at least one year of experience working with youth.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Complete background check, Child Abuse Prevention training, CPR/AED/First Aide certification for infant, child and adult, Bloodborne Pathogens, other required trainings including all IDHS, state and federal requirements. Must complete TB test and Medical Exams as required.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to maintain a safe driving record, and provide proof of a valid Driver’s License and current car insurance.
